Detached members are members of United States Rescue who are not near an area with an active United States Rescue Company.
The duties of a detached member are the same as that of normal members, with the only exception being that you will augment the main effort of a search and rescue mission in your area, be it with a volunteer search and rescue organization or aiding law enforcement.
To become a Detached Member, you must:
- Complete the Instant Member application processes
- Complete a personal information summary and send a photo
- Acquire our required uniform and identification items
- Be currently certified in CPR/First Aid/AED
- Complete required online training
- Acquire our tracking device (optional for first year members)
Detached members may be grouped together if in the same area, which is a reason we recommend our tracking device, in addition to be able to locate volunteers to assist in specific areas.

We hope to welcome you to the United States Rescue team soon!
