The position of Search and Rescue Team Member, within United States Rescue, Inc., is a member of the Rescue Company and is responsible for conducting search and rescue operations, as directed. The Search and Rescue Team Member also conducts training operations, accountability of individual and team equipment, professional development and continuing education, operates within established standard operating procedures, and creates a motivating, safe, and professional environment for all peers by supporting leaders of the unit.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Physical Fitness Test and Swim Test.
  • Pass a background check: Criminal, Terror Watchlist, Sex Offender.

Physical Assessment Tests:

  • Swim Test: 50 meter swim for shore, five minute tread, 50 meter swim to shore.
  • The fitness test consists of push ups, sit ups, and a two-mile run. Candidates will be graded by established internal standards by age and birth gender, strictly for assurance that candidates are capable of performing strength-related tasks without exceeding their biological extremes, specifically in the purposes of personal and team safety.

The ideal candidate(s):

  • Participates in the planning, directing, and supervising company operations to accomplish the mission. Assists (through performance) the unit in carrying out its primary mission of providing search and rescue services as directed by the unit commander.
  • Conducts maintenance and care of individual and organizational equipment and material.
  • Abides by unit policies, procedures, and SOPs.
  • Maintains a high degree of operational security.
  • Adheres to the unit safety program.
  • Ensures that individual readiness is maintained.
  • Cross-trains in order to assist in other duties.

Preferences:

  • Military / Law Enforcement Experience
  • Search and Rescue Experience

The most qualified candidate will be required to complete induction educational requirements prior to earning organizational grade. The authorized grades for new Search and Rescue Team Members are Second Lieutenant through Major, depending on qualifications, experience, or combination of both.
