Membership: $50.00 Annual Donation (Pays for registration, background check, and processing)

The position of REEF Mentor requires an individual that has been diagnosed with service-connected post-traumatic stress disorder and has made great improvements to their ability to function despite their affliction. This individual should possess verifiable evidence of recovery from their struggles. Additionally, Reef Mentors should maintain the ability to articulate response and recovery tools that have been effective for them.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • VA Service-Connected PTSD Diagnosis.
  • Verifiable history of service-connected PTSD diagnosis and recovery.
  • Pass a background check: Major Criminal Offenses, Terror Watchlist, Sex Offender.

  • Leadership, candor, and commitment.

The ideal candidate(s):

  • Participates in the planning, directing, and supervision of 3-5 REEF Protege. Assists (through performance) their Proteges with VA familiarity, PTSD symptoms, and other needs of their assigned Proteges.
  • Conducts maintenance and care of individual and organizational equipment and material.
  • Abides by unit policies, procedures, and SOPs.
  • Maintains a high degree of operational and personal information security.
  • Adheres to the unit safety program.
  • Ensures that individual readiness is maintained.
  • Cross-trains in order to assist in other duties.
  • Maintains operational functions of their United States Rescue Tracking Device by replacing batteries every 30 days and logging on when available for search and rescue operations.

Preferences:

  • VA Service-Connected Disability Claim Experience.
  • Combat and/or Search and Rescue Experience.

Additional benefits:

  • CPR/First Aid Training after 3 Months of Service
  • Potential For Free Flight and Dive Training
  • Search and Rescue Training Available

The most qualified candidate will be required to complete induction educational requirements prior to earning REEF Mentor status.
