VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD
CERTIFYING ORGANIZATION
United State Rescue, Inc. has been awarded Certifying Organization status by the Presidential Volunteer Service administration and we automatically submit our members for awards based on volunteer service within our organization. United States Rescue members, both volunteers and staff, are eligible for award of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award at various levels, including Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Lifetime awards.
In 2003, the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation founded the President’s Volunteer Service Award to recognize the important role of volunteers in America’s strength and national identity. This award honors individuals whose service positively impacts communities in every corner of the nation and inspires those around them to take action, too.
The PVSA has continued under each administration, honoring the volunteers who are using their time and talents to solve some of the toughest challenges facing our nation.
Service to or through our nonprofit organization count toward the hours required for the varying levels of the award. Volunteer hours must fall within a one year period, but are not required to be completed within calendar year. Perspective recipients must be legal citizens of the United States of America and meet a minimum age requirement of five years old, in addition to the requirements described regrading service hours.
As a Certifying Organization, we require that anyone wishing to receive the award, or accumulate hours toward the Lifetime Achievement Award, become a member of United States Rescue. Our volunteer hour tracking system will record all hours spent performing a volunteer function for the organization, for organizations in which we directly support (that are also 501.c.3. nonprofit organizations), to include any search and rescue training exercise or operation.
